I’ve been on the Slim Fast* challenge for almost two weeks now, which is the recommended length of time set by Slim Fast themselves for the 3-2-1 challenge. Now although my recent post was more than two weeks ago, I wanted to make sure any results wasn’t just temporary. Understandably there are people who are people who are skeptical of “fad” diets and diets such as the 3-2-1 challenge, so I was determined to stick to the challenge word for word to the plan details.
As I mentioned in my previous post, I was sticking to 3 snacks a day, 2 replacement meals and 1 healthy 600 calorie meal a day. Alongside this, I ensured I drank 2 liters of water, and worked out for at least 30 minutes a day. Now by working out, I don’t mean slugging myself to the gym everyday, it could be a brisk 30 minute walk, some yoga at home or some toning exercises.
I got to admit the challenge itself was pretty difficult to start off with. I was used to having my porridge or fruit for breakfast, a meal for lunch, and a meal for dinner. Drinking enough water was easy enough to do – this can also be made easier by having flavored water. By that, it’s naturally flavored water, like a slice of lemon floating around in a bottle of water. Even though I found the first two or three days of the plan difficult, there was a lot of support from Slim Fast and other people taking on the Slim Fast challenge. The hashtag #Slimfastchallenge proved to be effective. I absolutely loved the support received on Twitter, and also the tips from people who have been in the same position as me.
Now for the results, I managed to lose 2lbs whilst on this challenge. I also weighed myself one week after this challenge, just to ensure that it was lasting and it wasn’t water weight. And the weight stayed off! I’m actually really surprised that I lost any weight. I’m not saying that the plan doesn’t work, it’s more I generally keep to the same calorie count as the plan requires. Admittedly I don’t work out everyday normally, and although I have lost weight the lasting effects are worth it. You look at exactly what you are eating differently, and you look forward to the healthy meal each day. That itself forces you to get in the kitchen and be experimental in the kitchen with new ingredients.
I would definitely recommend the #Slimfastchallenge to anyone who is looking to change their relationship with food to something a bit more healthy. Or anyone who is looking to lose a few pounds, in a healthy way, fast? Would you try a two week plan like this?
