If you follow me on Twitter you will know that recently my pet cat, Tigger, was taken ill, and had to have a major operation. Now for anyone that has pets you would know how difficult it can be when your pet is taken ill. For me, I don’t have children, so I am proud to admit that yes, I do treat my pets as my babies, and I absolutely love treating them every so often. When they behave, of course! I know there will be a few people out there, raising their eyebrows at this post about how I’m talking about my pets, but unless you have pets, you may not understand the connection with them. One of my absolute favourite places to shop around for goodies is PetShop.co.uk, they have a huge range of treats for your pets, and it beats trawling through pet shop aisles any day!
Let’s start with a bit of a back story. I had re-homed Tigger when a family was looking for new homes for a litter of kittens. It was a fairly simple and quick decision to make as to which kitten I chose; trust me when I say this, as soon as you know which pet to have, you know! I instantly fell in love with my furry feline friend as soon as I saw him! With cats, however, they need company during the day, and with me out at work, he was quickly getting bored. That’s when Misty came along, and they both, happily, kept each other company.
Recently, Tigger has had two major operations in the space of 6 weeks. With the vets not actually seeing the condition he has had in over 30 years. I like to think of him as a special cat, regardless of all his health problems. He is, however, rather greedy too, and will absolutely jump at the chance (quite literally) to trying something new. And his ways have rubbed off on Misty. That’s why I always like to change things up when I’m out buying treats for them. On a visit to my local pet shop, however, I found their range to be limited or they just were really bad for their health. Us as humans take great care in our own health, and that should be embodied within your pets. A vet once told me, yes, I’m heading into quote mode here, you wouldn’t eat fish and chips everyday, so why feed the pet version to your cats? Here are a few of my cat must have’s to keep them healthy and happy:
It was especially important, now, for me to give Tigger food that was going to benefit his health, as this was being given to him alongside dozens of pain relief and antibiotics. Vets are always recommending Hill’s Science Plan Cat Food* for Cats to eat as their daily food, in particular the dry version as it’s better for their teeth. With the Hill’s range it isn’t unhealthy at all for your cats, and it’s vital to keep them in top shape. There’s a reason why Vet’s recommend this food, and it’s because it actually works. Admittedly, I used to feed my cats the usual branded food of Whiskas, which wasn’t entirely good for them. I found I was going back and forth to the vet’s with minor problems. Since switching it up though, this has completely stopped, and you can tell the difference in the shininess of their fur! If you want your pet to be happy, and healthy it is recommended that you try the Hill’s Science Plan range – after all, there’s a reason why it’s advertised at the Vet’s.
Saying that, every so often you do need to give your cat’s some wet food, which will help even out the balance of food types. I’ve found that the Almo Nature Natural Cat Food* range to be absolutely perfect for that. Whenever I’m shopping for myself, I tend to use brands that are known to be cruelty free and those that are socially responsible, and Almo Nature have these same values with their pet food range. My two cats LOVED the taste of the food inside these pouches, and they were finished within minutes of putting it in their bowls . Most wet food pouches have such a strong smell to them, that just lingers around my home even after the cat’s have finished eating. I did not have the same experience with these pouches at all.
Every cat owner has seen the TV ad for Dreamies Cat Treats*, and honestly, my cat’s go crazy for this stuff. If you ever want to train your cat, (yes it can be done!), just shake a packet of Dreamies at them and they will be well behaved for hours. There are so many different varieties of these treats, and you only need a few to keep your moggies happy.
My cat treats from PetShop has really helped keep Misty happy, and help Tigger recover from his operation. Delivery is super quick, and should only take 5 working days from the date of order. What I absolutely loved about PetShop was that the parcel recipient were actually the name’s of my two adorable cats. Even the delivery driver found it as a nice personal touch! PetShop also cater for all types of pets, including dogs, birds, fish and even reptiles.
So go on, treat your pet to something special from PetShop.co.uk
