Creating different looks on your nails can not only be a tasking exercise, but can be a great pampering session itself. I regularly change up my nail colour, and utilise Sunday’s as a perfect day to have an hour or so to myself to get my nails on point. However, after a few days you can find that your nails may have a few chips on the colour, and sometimes this can be a bit disheartening. After spending an hour or so doing your nails, the last thing you want is for the colour to disappear only after a few days.
Usually I would expect my nail colour to at least last me the week, and that’s after putting a top coat on top. So to help stop this from happening, I’ve put a list together of ways to help make nail polish last longer, so your hand jewels are looking perfect just like the first day of colour.
❤ Nail Polish Remover : adding nail polish remover to your nails, even if there isn’t colour on your nails removes any excess oil on your nails. Just rub the smallest amount of remover on your nails to help prevent chipping, by doing this your nail polish will stick onto your nails much longer than usual.
❤ Buffing Your Nails : This will help flatten down your nails to ensure there is smooth coverage of your nail colour. Just be careful not to buff your nails too hard as this can sting and burn slightly. Try use a smoother buffer that isn’t as coarse.
❤ Warm Nail Colour : by rolling the nail colour in between your palms it warms up the nail colour to help your nails have a more even coverage over your whole nail. The colour is also more likely to spread easily when warm.
❤ Top Coat : Ensure that you apply the top coat of colour, which should always be a clear coat, fairly soon after applying the colour itself. By doing this the top colour blends into the nail colour, locking in the layers. If you add it quite a while afterwards, you will find that the nail colour will just be a thick layer on your nail that takes much longer to dry.
❤ Every Few Days : Add another layer of top coat as this will help keep your nails looking fresh and shiny. It will also help your colour last longer as your nails will have another layer to protect it from chipping.
